Donate today to help us provide early intervention services to kids like Jock.
House with No Steps is trying to raise $184,000 to tackle one of the most frustrating problems facing children with disabilities – the chronic shortage of early intervention services in Australia today.
Please donate a gift today, and help more children like Jock to live rich and rewarding lives.
Experts agree. When it comes to helping children like Jock to blossom, the earlier they get professional therapy and support, the better their chances of reaching their full potential.
Jock was born with Down syndrome. He was diagnosed when he was just two days old, and his mum Nicole was very concerned by the news.
Nicole didn’t know much about the condition at the time, but she knew enough to realise that it brings with it a wide variety of physical and intellectual challenges.
And the more she read about those challenges, the more convinced Nicole became that her son would never experience the joy of a life filled with friendship, learning and the joy of growing into a confident, independent adult.
And indeed, these precious things might very well have proved too difficult for Jock, were it not for a wonderful piece of good luck.
You see, despite living in a small town, Jock’s home just happened to be in an area covered by House with No Step’s early intervention service.
When Jock was just six-weeks old, Occupational Therapists at House with No Steps got to work helping Jock to overcome his challenges and build himself a brilliant life.
If only every child with a disability in Australia had the same access to early intervention services as Jock. Sadly, the unhappy reality is that hundreds do not.
Some are cut off from early intervention services altogether, while others have to wait many months or even years to receive help.
And as a result, by the time their therapy begins, it’s already too late for them to benefit fully, and any chance they had of reaching their full potential has been limited.
At House with No Steps, we think this heartbreaking situation is unacceptable. That’s why we’re asking our friends for help us raise $184,000 to fund the expansion our exceptional early intervention services.
Your donation today will help more children than ever benefit from the same level of exceptional care that set Jock on the road towards a rich and rewarding life.
It will pay for specialised therapy sessions to help children overcome physical and intellectual challenges, improve their communication skills and build their self-confidence.
It will ensure that, for many more children, support begins the moment they need it, and continues until they are fully ready to set out on their own.
In short, your donation will help children with disabilities develop and grow. So that more boys and girls like Jock can seize life and turn it into something beautiful.
Jock has worked with our early intervention team for five years now, and recently he enjoyed his first day at mainstream school. Watching him take his place at his desk was a dream come true for Nicole - a moment of pure joy that she will never forget.
Please help us make more moments of joy like this possible by donating a gift today. Whatever you can spare will help bring the life-changing benefits of early intervention to more boys and girls while there is still time to transform their lives.
Thank you so much.
