This Christmas, celebrate the end of an incredible year for seven-year-old Zayla
This Christmas, celebrate the end of an incredible year for seven-year-old Zayla – and help House with No Steps raise $101,103 to give more people with disabilities the ongoing support they need to achieve their every dream.
At House with No Steps, we believe that it’s not disability that matters. It’s ability – and how we can help people make the most of theirs.
So when Zayla came to our Little Learners early intervention service, what our therapist Louise focussed on wasn’t that the left side of her body was rigid with cerebral palsy.
It was the fact that Zayla was one of the most joyful, determined and courageous little girls she’d ever had the pleasure to meet.
Zayla’s left arm was stiff and drawn up tightly to her face. And when she lay on her belly, she could barely lift her head.
Yet despite these challenges, Louise was convinced her little friend had enough character to conquer the world. And so too was Zayla’s guardian, her grandmother Belinda.
And so together, Louise and Belinda ignored warnings from some that Zayla had no chance of making it into mainstream school, or onto further education and a decent career, and she set out with her colleagues to help Zayla build the fulfilling life she believed could be hers.
Today, all-singing, all-dancing Zayla is seven, and unrecognisable as the girl who once could barely crawl, let alone jump and pirouette around the room in a tutu as she loves to do today.
Best of all, Zayla’s just about to celebrate the successful completion of Year 1 at her local mainstream school – an achievement that for Zayla and her family is a dream come true.
This Christmas, House with No Steps is seeking help from our friends in the communities we serve to continue empowering people like Zayla to exceed expectations.
We’re trying to raise $101,103 to help fund the services that enable people to overcome every obstacle that stands in the way of them fulfilling their talents and achieving their dreams.
Please donate a gift today. With your help, the House with No Steps team can continue doing everything they need to support people like Zayla – and keep on supporting them for as long as they need our support.
Zayla’s journey with House with No Steps is not over yet. As she makes her way through school, and follows the road ahead to wherever her talents take her, there will be many challenges to overcome.
But with the help of your donation, Zayla and every single person who comes to us for support, knows that we will continue to be there for them – always ready to help, with practical and emotional support of the highest quality.
