Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. It’s helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.
From 1 January 2015, Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:
With Smart and Skilled, you have more choice when selecting courses and training providers. You can determine your eligibility for Smart and Skilled training in the Eligibility Checker. You can then find the right course and training provider, and get an estimate of your course fee, in the Course Finder. The site also includes information for employers and training providers.
State Training Services, in the NSW Department of Industry, is responsible for Smart and Skilled and leads policy, planning, funding, regulation and advice on VET and employment in NSW.

All students will be required to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) to enrol for training with Aruma (formerly House with No Steps and The Tipping Foundation). Find information about obtaining a USI
The Certificate 3 Guarantee is a Qld Government initiative that provides subsidised training for eligible Qld residents to complete their first post-school Certificate III level qualification.
It also supports Queensland’s Year 12 graduates to transition to employment by providing fee-free training in high priority qualifications.
Qualifications available:
The Higher Level Skills program is a Qld government initiative that provides subsidised training for eligible Qld residents to gain the higher level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry.
Skilled Capital is an ACT Government training initiative funded by the ACT and Australian Governments. Through this initiative, you can access government subsidised training from an approved registered training organisation. You may also be eligible to receive a range of support services to assist you to complete your chosen qualification.
Skilled Capital provides subsidised training in a selection of qualifications from the ACT Skills Needs List, as well as a selection of Certificate II pathway qualifications that may lead to further training at a higher level.
This means that you will undertake training in an area that has been identified as a skills need in the ACT. This will improve your employment opportunities and/or lead to further training options once you have completed your qualification.
