New RGM for Sydney Region

Amanda Ellison knows the disability sector well. Having spent the last 15 years working with Northcott Disability Services, she is well aware of the challenges and the opportunities disability service providers face today. Starting as a community worker, Amanda worked her way up in various roles to become General Manager, Client Programes.

"House With No Steps appealed to me as an organistaion because of it's diversity and broad range of services; particularly the business services that generate both income for the organisation and employment opportunities for people with disabilities" Amanda says.

"Everyone here has been very friendly and willing to assist me in getting to know our operations. I'm looking forward to helping facilitate the new initiatives state and federal governments are introducing to the sector and seeing substantial growth in areas of unmet need in our community."

135 Art Union Winners
Vanda and Bob Johnston, from Bowral are the surprised new owners of a luxury penthouse in Kiama after they won the biannual House With No Steps Art Union.  “I’ve been supporting the House With No Steps for I don’t know how long and I usually buy the tickets and forget about them,” Mrs Johnston said.  “I’ve sort of never won anything but for some reason, this is uncanny, I wrote the draw date in my diary this time. When House With No Steps rang and said you’ve won, I thought it was a joke.”  Mrs Johnston laughed and laughed on being told she had won the charity’s raffle and took some convincing that it was for real.  artunion135-winners-300.jpg
Mrs Johnston said she and her husband would use the beautiful apartment as a seaside escape. “Of course, the family will be able to enjoy it too for a little while. I can’t wait for my little girls, my granddaughters to come down!” she said. The Johnstons sent a bottle of Moët champagne to Brook Crowley, who drew the winning ticket on July 9, as a token of their appreciation.
