There were many clients who needed to learn various cooking skills. The Sister’s of Charity generously gave the House With No Steps service a grant to enable the service to provide individualised and group cooking programs to a number of clients.

As a result of this generous grant, the group decided to develop a ‘Cook-Book’ specific to people with Intellectual and associated disabilities.

This was a very time consuming task for the group to undertake and after several drafts the finished product is now here!

To accompany the cookbook there are:

• Detailed descriptions of the various cooking utensils that are used.
• Health and Hygiene in the kitchen

Not only did this program give each client basic cooking skills it also allowed them to socialise with fellow peers thus bridging another need, social interaction.

All participants worked hard to make this project come to life putting in many hours in the kitchen.
