Co-founder of House With No Steps, Dorothy Watts and her daughter Nicole, officially opened the "Watts Cottage Historical Museum" at House With No Steps Summerland House in Alstonville on April 18th 2008. Over 200 people were there to celebrate the opening of this unique tourist attraction and were the first to see the recently renovated cottage which now houses historical information and memorabilia particular to House With No Steps. The museum provides vistors with information on the history and growth of House With No Steps since its inception in 1962 and features memorabilia such as Lionel Watts wheelchair and briefcase, historical photographs and an educational audio visual room. Watts Cottage Historical Museum is a level 3 accredited Visitors Information Centre and since opening has seen over 1000 visitors! Bus tours and community groups are invited to visit.
