Established in 1965, HWNS Hunter Region offers supported employment and community services from Port Stephens through Newcastle and Lake Macquarie to the Central Coast.

Business Services

Hunter business service enterprises throughout the Region provide employment for more than 262 people in a diverse range of operations including recycling, contracts, engineering, commercial grounds maintenance, therapeutic goods and commercial laundries.

Respite Services

HWNS operates a respite service for older parent carers in the Hunter region. The service offers Community Based, In-Home, and Centre Based Day Respite. We will soon (late 2009) be able to offer Facility (Cottage) Based over-night respite.

HWNS also offers respite to carers of people with a psychiatric disability, intellectual disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Located at Warnervale on the Central Coast, the service provides, Community Based, In-Home, Centre Based Day Respite, and Facility (Cottage) Based over-night respite across the Gosford and Wyong Local Government Areas.

Education and Training

Pre-vocational programs through Transition to Work (TTW) services. HWNS offers work experience to students in the general community as well as in our Australian Disability Enterprises (Supported Employment).
