| HWNS announces new services for remote communities |
|
HWNS is establishing two new services in the New England area of NSW. The Tamworth and Armidale communities, as well as communities located further afield, have welcomed HWNS as a trusted service provider with a proven history and reputation. Our Tamworth Young People Leaving Care Program is now up and running. This service supports young men and women who have recently turned 18, and have been residing with alternate family carers, to move out and learn to live semi independently. Leaving Care clients will reside at “Turning Point House” whilst they learn new living and social skills to ready themselves for transition into more independent living in the future. The new service in Armidale is progressing through the early stages of planning. This will provide support for five men, who are presently residing in aged care facilities, to transition into a purpose built home in Armidale. The main feature of this service is to provide high level personal health care support to people who have conditions such as an acquired brain injury. This will include recreational and diversional therapy, access to allied health services, increased participation in their community and supporting visits from family and friends. The home will be ready in mid January next year. We are looking forward to providing these men with a comfortable and private residential setting as an alternate to living in residential aged care.
