House With No Steps is a leading provider of community services which offers a diverse range of community and leisure programs and activities that enable people with disabilities to enjoy life, make friends and become active members of their local community.

 

Our new Respite Programs have been established to provide carers with a break from the life-long commitment of caring and supporting a person with a disability at home. We presently have two programs available:

This program provides a range of opportunities for people with disabilities including centre based activities, planned outings and events. Regardless of the model or the setting, our goal is to support our clients so that they may live with dignity, independence and achieve their life goals. We provide day programs offering a means to actively participate in their local communities.

While attending this program we will assist clients to improve their life skills including- social integration, home and money skills, numeracy/ literacy as well as their personal development and aiding them to plan for their future.

The criteria required for securing a place on this program is:

  • Aged between 18-65 years old

  • Have an intellectual disability, mental health support needs or be on the ASD spectrum

S.H.E.D- School Holiday Entertainment Days

hwns-7.4.08-255_rj.gifWe are running holiday activities during all of the Queensland school holidays throughout the year*. This program is available to teenagers aged 13-18 years old who attend a special education unit or school in the Logan and surrounding areas. Participants also need to be registered with Disability Services Queensland

This program helps with integration into the community, making new friends and having fun. Programs will be centre based as well as in the community. Examples of activities we will run are bowling, swimming, arts and crafts as well as the opportunity to have short retreat style camping holidays for an extra cost.

Our ongoing commitment to ‘Connecting' underpins these programs by providing services in the community, establishing community partners and utilising community resources. Our community partnerships are vital to the success of the community based programs we provide.

Conference Room

conference_room.gifWe also have a conference room facility available for hire. This area is a brand new room with modern furniture and air conditioning that can seat up to 25 people in a board room style. Price includes use of an overhead projector, electronic whiteboard, TV/DVD, iced water facility and wheelchair accessible toilets. Tea/coffee is included in the price.

Available from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday at a cost of $250 for the day.

Lunches can be provided for an additional cost.

  • A severe or profound disability

  • Mental Health support needs

  •  An intellectual disability

And need a break from the role of caring, HWNS provide a range of services that may be able to assist you with respite.
