Sydney Region, Inner West. Inner West Day / Respite provides services for people residing in the following Local Government Areas: Summer Hill, Burwood , Canterbury, Tempe, Marrickville, Petersham, Canada Bay, Gleve, Balmain, Ashfield, Drummoyne, Strathfield, Leichhardt, and Sydney City.

Service available:

Flexible Respite and Community Participation. HWNS Sydney Region, Inner West Respite services are offered to parents and carers over the age of 60 caring for a person with a disability aged 25 and over. ATSI parents / carers aged 50 and over caring for a person with a disability aged 25 and over.

To be eligible for service, care recipients must reside with the primary care giver, reside in the Inner West and be diagnosed with an intellectual disability.

Flexible Respite packages are offered to families in need of respite whilst meaningful leisure and recreation activities are delivered to care recipients. The service user to staff ration will be individualised to ensure that each service user’s needs are addressed. An assessment will be conducted for each service user to determine support needs and to consult with service users regarding service provision.

Community Participation: Sydney Region, Inner West Community Participation is available for school leavers who have been granted community participation funding. Community Participation is for school leavers with a disability who require additional support and skills development to enhance their life choices as they move into adulthood. House With No Steps’ Individual Personal Plan Process is individually focused and encompasses a holistic approach towards each service users needs. The service user to staff ration will be individualised to ensure that each service user’s needs are addressed. An assessment will be conducted for each service user to determine support needs and to consult with service users regarding service provision.

Contributions/Cost: To be negotiated upon assessment.

Transport arrangements: HWNS does not provide transport to and from service delivery.

Other details: The Respite and Community Participation programs operate 48 weeks a year and do not operate during public holidays.

ATSI parents / carers aged 50 and over caring for a person with a disability aged 25 and over.
