Supported Employment

Employment is more than a job. For a person with a disability, Supported Employment can be life-changing.

What is Supported Employment?

For people with a disability who are not able to work without support, House with No Steps and other Australian Disability Enterprises provide a variety of jobs from gardening and landscaping, packaging, recycling, cleaning and even food services.

This is called Supported Employment.

Supported Employment means more than receiving a pay check – you’ll learn new skills, get work experience, meet new people, and work on your career goals.

Supported Employment at House with No Steps

A wide range of roles

Our businesses in New South Wales and Queensland provide a huge range of jobs for people with disabilities. We can help you find a job you’ll love.

Employees in our businesses work in many different roles and have different levels of skills – from gardeners to receptionists, biscuit manufacturers, recyclers and cooks.

In fact, House with No Steps has nine businesses which all offer Supported Employment roles.

We pride ourselves on ensuring our businesses are safe, supportive and social workplaces.

The chance to learn new skills

Once you have joined our team, we can help you to learn new skills to reach the goal you’ve set out in your NDIS plan.

You do not need any experience or qualifications. Our team of supervisors and trainers will provide you with training and support every step of the way.

This can include getting a drivers license, a forklift license, Work Cover White Card, First Aid certificate and barista training.

In the longer term, these new skills can help you to work towards your long-term goals, which may be to find a job in open employment.

What does the NDIS fund?

To be eligible for Supported Employment at House with No Steps, you must have a Disability Support Pension (DSP) and an NDIS plan.

Your NDIS plan will include funding under ‘Finding and Keeping a Job”. This funding will cover all support you will receive in the workplace throughout your employment with an Australian Disability Enterprise.
